What is the best way to apply the textured surface paint?
We always suggest using a high-quality roller rather than a brush to ensure that the estimated coverage is met. Obviously in those tough to reach places like grooves etc. a brush could be used.
What kind of roller should I use?
We suggest using a cotton nap roller to ensure an even and consistent application. We do not suggest using textured rollers.
How many coatings do I need to apply?
Dura Grip needs to be applied with two light coats at least 2 to 4 hours apart using a fresh roller on the second coat.
Can I use Dura Grip textured paint underwater?
We do not advise that you use Dura Grip on a surface that is permanently submerged in water.
Do I need to use a Primer?
Dura Grip is a primer and paint in one however when working with highly porous surfaces like raw wood we suggest using a primer to ensureyou get the most coverage out of your anti-slip paint.
Can I use Dura Grip on Wood?
Firstly, you would need to clean the wooden floor and then make sure that the surface is flat and smooth. This includes sanding down splinters and hammering in nails and tightened exposed screws.
What if my floor is a bright or a dark colour?
It may be necessary to do 3 coats if you are coating lighter colours of Dura Grip over flooring that has bold, bright, or dark colours.
Will the clear non-skid paint stain or discolour my tiles?
No, the clear non-slip textured paint will not discolour or stain tiles.
Do you sell or send samples/tester pots?
We do not currently send or sell samples. That said, you can order a can of Dura Grip anti-slip paint and run a test using no more than 10% of the can. If you are not 100% satisfied with the results of the test you can then contact us for collection and a full refund.
Is this textured finish easy to clean?
Absolutely, while Dura Grip is a textured non-slip paint it is not so aggressive that it cannot be cleaned. We do suggest avoiding mops and using alight pressure spray and/or decking brush to clean. Avoid cleaners with alcohol and stick with ph-neutral solutions.
Can this paint be used in a shower?
Absolutely, Dura Grip anti-slip paint can be used on most surface types including shower bases and trays.
Can this be used to help my pet from slipping on the floors?
Dura Grip non-slip paint can also assist pets from slipping on the floors. The final texture is barefoot-friendly so at the same time it will be good for those beloved dog’s and cat’s paws.
Will this product peal or scratch easily?
Dura Grip non-slip paint is an epoxy coating which makes it extremely tough and durable in most conditions. The product has UV and chemical resistance so it can even take a beating from the sun (when there is sun in the UK) or by a swimming pool the coating will have no issues.
Can I use this on my garden patio or path?
No problem at all. No matter the material of the path be it concrete, tile, brick or asphalt Dura Grip can be used.
Can this anti-slip textured paint be used indoors?
Yes, Dura Grip can be used indoors and outdoors. The only suggestion would be to make sure there is enough ventilation while applying on interior surfaces.
Can Dura Grip be used on a Resin and/or Fiberglass coating?
Dura Grip can be used on Resin/Fiberglass surfaces and coatings. Surface prep includes light sanding, cleaning, and complete drying prior to application of Dura Grip. Previously coated surfaces must be cured prior to applying a topcoat of Dura Grip.
Can this be used on Linoleum or Vinyl?
You will have no issues using Dura Grip anti-slip paint on synthetic surfaces.
How long do I need to leave in-between coats?
The full cure time of Dura Grip non-slip paint is around 24hrs and you need to recoat the surface in around 2 to 4 hours.
How long does this last?
Most products produced by SlipDoctors are covered by a 2-year Manufacturer’s Warranty and so the anti-slip coatings are expected to last a minimum of 2 years. That said, with this being an anti-slip epoxy paint generally the coating will last longer.
Why does the product only come in 946ml tins and not 5 litres?
This was a business decision to protect you and us from hassle and loss of product during transportation. The positive aspect about shipping the paint in smaller parts is that if the courier damages the product during transportation only a small amount of the paint is lost and needs to be replaced.
Why is this product so expensive compared to others on the market?
The answer here is simple, it is an epoxy coating. Epoxy in general is expensiveto produce but has massive benefits when considering durability over otheroptions like polyurethane and acrylic (water-based) non-skid paints. Before launchingour non-skid paint over 10 years ago we considered all options and could haveeasily gone with the cheaper route, but we always focused and continue to focuson quality of our products and safety of our customers first.
